Begin the day surrounded by the dramatic beauty of Tukad Cepung Waterfall, where sunlight filters through the canyon and you may swim in the natural pool or stand beneath the flowing water. Continue to Mahagiri Panoramic Resort & Restaurant for an unlimited buffet lunch accompanied by spectacular views of rice fields and Mount Agung, before pausing at the scenic Bukit Jambul Rice Terraces.
The journey culminates at Besakih, Baliβs revered Mother Temple and the islandβs most important spiritual sanctuary. Inspired by the story of Rsi Markandeya and the sacred Panca Datu elements, Wandi will guide you through the templeβs history and spiritual meaning, followed by a reflective Five Sacred Foundations Energy Practice designed to support grounding, balance and inner transformation.
PURPOSE OF THE JOURNEY
This journey has been carefully designed around Besakih, Baliβs largest and most sacred Hindu temple complex, situated on the slopes of Mount Agung. Known as the Mother Temple of Bali, Besakih represents the spiritual relationship between the divine, humanity and nature.
According to Balinese spiritual tradition, Rsi Markandeya buried five sacred metalsβknown as Panca Datuβon the slopes of Mount Agung. This ritual was intended to purify, protect and spiritually balance the land. The sacred place that developed around this foundation eventually became Besakih, which is honoured today as the spiritual centre of Bali.
Throughout the day, we will explore the symbolic relationship between water, earth, nature and sacred space. Each destination has been selected to gradually prepare participants for the energy practice at Besakih. The journey begins with water and inner reflection at Tukad Cepung, continues with nourishment and panoramic views at Mahagiri, moves into grounding and connection with the land at Bukit Jambul, and concludes with balance and inner alignment at the Mother Temple.
Throughout the journey, you will be accompanied by our local and spiritual guide, Wandi. His knowledge of Balinese culture and spiritual traditions will help you understand the history, stories and deeper meaning of each destination. His extensive experience in tour planning and group management also ensures that the day remains comfortable, organised and carefully timed.
The itinerary follows an efficient route through East Bali, allowing participants to experience its sacred sites and natural beauty without spending unnecessary time travelling between locations. Rather than being a collection of separate attractions, the entire day unfolds as one connected journey leading towards the final experience at Besakih.

Inspired by the symbolic meaning of Panca Datu, participants will be guided through a reflective energy practice centred on five inner foundations. The practice will take place directly above the sacred site where Rsi Markandeya is believed to have buried the Panca Datu elements. This little-known location is said to carry a powerful and transformative energy rising from the earth and remains unfamiliar even to many Balinese people.
Theme of the energy work:
β’ Grounding β feeling present, stable and connected
β’ Purification β releasing mental and emotional heaviness
β’ Protection β recognising and strengthening personal boundaries
β’ Balance β restoring harmony between different areas of life
β’ Alignment β connecting actions and intentions with oneβs deeper values
Participants will reconnect with the intention developed throughout the day and consciously bring it into the practice.
The experience will conclude with a moment of silence, gratitude and personal integration in the sacred atmosphere of Besakih.
This guided energy practice is created by Awakening Journey Bali as a mindfulness and reflection experience. It is not presented as an official Balinese Hindu ceremony.
